Include minute books, 1798-1808, and docket books, 1796-1797 and 1817, for the Fredericksburg District Court, concerning primarily lawsuits for debts; proceedings of the Fredericksburg Mayor's Court, 1821-1837, chiefly containing records of public disorderliness, thefts of a minor nature, and insolvent debtors. Also include five loose warrants, 1845-1855, issued by the Mayor's Court, including incidents of two free African-American hands on a steamboat using provoking language, and a Richmond, Fredericksburg, and Potomac Railroad engine, for exceeding the allowable speed within the corporate limits; and minute and fee books, 1811-1833, for the Circuit Superior Court of Spotsylvania, County, Va., for suits of law and chancery, John Tayloe Lomax, Judge.
